Already caught on videotape for stealing beer, Omar Thornton, 34, could have simply accepted his fate and resigned from his job like officials wanted him too. Instead, he wound up shooting eight – eight – co-workers, and eventually himself. At least two other people were also wounded, one critically.
Unreal.
Right as the new shift of people were coming in, he went ahead and started shooting away at people he deemed racist against him in the past. Victims were found throughout the office, warehouse and loading docks.
“CBS News Correspondent Ben Tracy reports from Manchester, Conn., that as employees were loading beer onto trucks Thornton ran along the loading platform selectively shooting, killing some and sparing others.
Police found Thornton with a fatal gunshot wound, Manchester police Lt. Joe San Antonio said. A police sharpshooter had approval to fire on Thornton when he killed himself, an official with knowledge of the scene told the AP on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to discuss it.”

He called his mother before he killed himself? Reports say his mother said Thornton killed people he felt were racist against him while he was working there.
This is sick! Racism solves nothing! After all of those people killed, racism still exists. The best thing to do is make decisions to love and put pain in the past.

We never think of black folks as mass murders, but mental health is a concern for all. I didn’t see any other black employees on the news footage. This was obviously a man with issues and with a lack of support (real or imagined), he snapped. I hope other companies will take a look at their practices and figure out a way to nip this in the bud before we lose more lives.
Crime is crime. The Law is the law. Depression is depression. Apparently, this young man had no one to really talk to and pinned his emotions up. The end result: he lashed out in the wrong way, ending what could have been a wonderful life.
Don’t get me twisted, I do not for a minute deny the fact that African-American’s have to fight racism everyday…it is just that these days, we have the power to do it better. Racism has done terrible things to our minds since slavery. We know this and continue to be puppets in the game. Our words are a powerful sword. Just as we rap to hip-hop that we love so much..we can also open our mouths and communicate our concerns about racism. When your mind is conditioned to think there is no better way out…we end up going “off” !!! Not healthy for us at all !!!
Speechless!!! I can’t say I haven’t been there. Every job I ever had I experience racism in one form or another. Love and put it in the past I don’t think so. It’s not that simple. Especially for some of us the degree of hurt is deeper than others. This man obviously was feeling som deep resentment from co-workers. He went Nat Turner on them for it. But for all we know he could of been an alcoholic working in a beer plant. What a dream job huh!!! We all know alcoholics are in denial of their addiction and when you bring it to their attention the first thing they do is fight back. Only god’s know the truth her but very unfortunate circumstances. Wish I could see that tape of him stealing beer.
