A popular musician? Yes. Passionate about change? Of course. Ready to lead? No. That’s what Haiti’s Provisional Electoral Council decided as the hip-hop singer is not on the list of candidate to run in this year’s presidential election. Hit the links to read the rest…

Hip-hop artist Wyclef Jean says he is ending his candidacy for president of Haiti after a ruling he did not meet a fiveyear residency requirement.

Jean said Friday night he will not contest a ruling from Haiti’s provisional electoral council that would bar him from running as a presidential candidate.

The 40-year-old Saddle River resident, who announced last week his intent to run for Haiti’s highest office, was left off the list of approved candidates published by the council.

Jean acknowledged the end of his run with a “heavy heart.”
